(1) I tried to do a little research on this pattern, but soon discovered several patterns named the same and hundreds of variations.
(2) This particular pattern has undergone a few changes since I began tying/fishing it in the 1990's. I now tie it in dark pewter or black Sulky Holoshimmer and then coat the body with a very light application of UV resign before finishing the rest of the fly. (3) Switching the black thread for red has proven effective.
Materials:
Hook: Daiich 1260 or any curve scud style hook. (Daiichi 1260 size 18 pictured)
Thread: Veevus 14/0, Black
Body: Sulky Holoshimmer, Dark Pewter (#6002) or (Arctic) Black (#6051)
Thorax: Muskrat, Natural
Wingcase: Fluoro Fibre, White
